RFMD assembles 100 millionth module at Beijing facility
RFMD proudly announced that it has assembled its 100 millionth
module in its Beijing, China, assembly facility. The Company
attributes the assembly milestone to continued strong sales
of its industry-leading portfolio of cellular power amplifiers.
Bob Bruggeworth, president and CEO of RFMD, made the announcement
while touring the Company's Beijing facility: "Our power
amplifiers are found in approximately one half of the world's
phones, and our customers include all of the world's major
handset manufacturers. We are particularly focused on supporting
the growing presence of handset manufacturers in Asia, and
we are committed to increasing our manufacturing capabilities
in Asia as the region continues to evolve as the handset industry's
manufacturing centre."
RFMD is increasing its assembly capacity in its Beijing
facility by approximately 100% in response to a robust handset
market and continued strong demand for its module products.
The Company is also expanding its GaAs manufacturing capacity
in its Greensboro, North Carolina, GaAs fab and expects to
increase total GaAs wafer capacity by approximately 40%. The
Company plans to complete both capacity expansions by the
December 2006 quarter.
