Sirenza launches single-chip WiMAX PA

Sirenza Microdevices' newest high-performance power amplifier for
WiMAX 802.16 applications, the SZA-3044 device provides high levels of
integration and high performance for next-generation wireless systems.

This InGaP HBT PA is for the 2.7 - 3.8 GHz band with excellent
efficiency to suit customer premises equipment (CPE), access point and
base station applications. The Class AB amplifier design has excellent
operational efficiency at nearly 15% for reduced heat and longer
battery life. Also, its output power of +31dBm of peak output power
(or +25dBm composite power at 2.5% EVM) suits higher data rates and
fast downloads. There is also a fully-integrated power detector for
optimal power management and to minimize external components. The PA
has an ESD rating of Class 2 (2KV HBM) and MSL-1 package; it is ready
for immediate shipment in a compact 6x6 QFN package to minimize board
space.

"Feedback from our customers during the development of these
amplifiers has enabled us to provide the optimum performance required
for their next generation WiMAX systems," said John Pelose, VP and
general manager of Sirenza's amplifier division. The release of the
SZA-3044 to volume production is a significant milestone as we
continue to expand into more diversified end market applications."
