100 million SiGe RFICs shipped

Sirenza Microdevices, Inc., says it has shipped more than 100 million
SiGe high-performance RFICs using Atmel Corporation's SiGe
semiconductor technology.

Sirenza launched the SGA amplifier IC series in 2000 and was among the
first to market with SiGe products for RF wireless and wireline
products. It features leading SiGe RF products, including modulators,
demodulators, low noise amplifiers, gain blocks and mixers. Total
unit shipment volume passed the 100 million mark in the third quarter
of 2005.

"Surpassing 100 million units is a significant milestone which
demonstrates Sirenza's volume manufacturing capabilities as well as
the acceptance of SiGe, as the industry standard for wireless
amplification," said Kin Tan, Sirenza's vice president, manufacturing
and operations. "The market acceptance of these products illustrates
the outstanding RF performance and reliability, as well as the
significant price benefits, of SiGe-based IC products."

"We are proud that Sirenza has chosen Atmel's SiGe technology to
manufacture competitive high-end RF products. Atmel's SiGe technology
has been very successful for Atmel's own IC products as well as for
external foundry customers," said Henrik Gutsch, Atmel's foundry
marketing manager. "And our new SiGe process generation with a transit
frequency of more than 80 GHz allows for even faster data transfer and
thus enables new application areas such as radar systems with higher
frequencies than conventional radar."
