AIXTRON reactor double for Samsung Electro Mechanics Blue LEDs

Aachen, Germany, based AIXTRON AG has received an order for two more GaN MOCVD mass production systems from Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. (SEMCO) in the first quarter of 2006. AIXTRON expects shipment during the first half of 2006.

This order comprises two AIX 2600G3HT 24x2-inch configuration reactors, which will be delivered to SEMCO’s facilities in Kyungki-Do, South Korea. These will be for the volume production of high brightness blue and white GaN-based LEDs.

Dr Dong-Joon Kim, LED R&D Group of SEMCO and responsible for both systems said, "SEMCO has good experience with the AIXTRON Planetary Reactor systems and we look forward to further expanding our capacity and capabilities with these new systems. In our experience, the AIXTRON Planetary Reactor offers the unique features required for our future plans. These include good process flexibility, excellent reproducibility which have enabled us to accelerate development cycles while giving good cost control."
