Evans Analytical Completes AMIA Acquisition

Evans Analytical Group LLC of Sunnyvale, CA, USA, has acquired the operations and assets of AMIA Labs.

AMIA is the premier provider of x-ray based analytical services to high-tech industries. Analytical techniques offered include x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray fluorescence (XRF) and x-ray reflectometry (XRR). AMIA has developed proprietary techniques for the measurement of texture, stress, composition and thickness on thin films, as well as micro-diffraction capabilities for patterned wafers or specific areas on medical implants and many other manufactured parts.

“AMIA's x-ray based techniques are an excellent complement to EAG's existing suite of analytical methods by providing information on crystallographic phase, orientation and crystallite size of polycrystalline materials and epitaxial films”, said Dr. Richard S. Hockett, EAG's Chief Scientist. “Characterization of strained thin films such as SiGe, Si:C, and AlGaN is a significant semiconductor industry issue and EAG is well equipped to meet this need through the acquired x-ray services capabilities, coupled with our existing Raman expertise.”

AMIA co-founders Delrose Winter and Dr. Richard Ortega note, “EAG is a great strategic fit for AMIA. We take great pride in our ability to tackle the most challenging analytical applications and EAG has earned that same reputation on a global scale. We look forward to being part of such a well respected analytical organization.”

“We are on a mission to cement our position as the #1 global solutions provider for materials characterization needs”, said EAG CEO Tom Pfeil . “EAG's industry reputation and success are based on our commitment to technical innovation and service excellence from our world-class scientific staff delivering analytical solutions across a comprehensive range of characterization techniques. Integrating AMIA's highly respected x-ray based analytical capabilities and expertise into the EAG portfolio creates a new and exciting solution set for our customers.”

AMIA’s operations and staff will be integrated into EAG's Round Rock facility.
