SpectraSensors gets $6.4m

SpectraSensors, a supplier of optical sensors to the energy, aerospace and environmental markets which rasied $2m in early funding and acquired the IP
of Tunable Photonics Corp, has closed a $6.4m series B round of funding, led by American River Ventures.

The technology spin-off of the NASA/Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA has extensive experience in laser absorption spectroscopy. Its commercial tunable diode laser gas sensors is inteneded for applications in oil and gas pipeline monitoring, industrial process control, smokestack monitoring, environmental monitoring, atmospheric science, aircraft safety, and medicine.

TDLs are capable of detecting several gasses critical to industrial process control and environmental monitoring including water vapour, ammonia, acetylene, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, and hydrogen chloride.
