Mitsubishi Electric Financial Half-Year Results

Electronic Devices total sales were Y91.6 bn which represents an 11% increase from the same period last year translating into operating income Y7.2 bn, a Y0.7 bn increase from the same period last year.

The semiconductors business saw a decrease in orders compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year due to a drop in price of red laser diodes. However, sales increased compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year due to increases in industrial use power modules and power amplifiers for mobile handsets, etc.

The LCD business saw a decrease in orders compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year due to a decrease in small-sized products for consumer use, including mobile handsets, etc. However, sales increased compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year due to increases in medium sized products mainly for industrial machinery.
As a result, total sales for the segment increased 11% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. Operating income increased by Y0.7 bn compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year due to increased sales, etc.
