Timothy Franey joins Quintessence
Photonics
Quintessence Photonics Corporation, the subsidiary of QPC
Lasers, Inc., manufacturer of high brightness, high power
semiconductor lasers, announced that Timothy Franey has joined
QPCI as Vice President of Manufacturing as of May 1, 2006.
"Tim is a highly regarded laser industry veteran with
an enviable and well deserved reputation for operational excellence.
We are very pleased to welcome Tim to the QPCI team,"
stated Jeffrey Ungar, Ph.D., President, Chief Executive Officer
and Co-Founder of QPCI.
Mr. Franey brings over 20 years of high tech manufacturing
experience to QPCI, including 12 years producing complex laser
based products. Tim comes to QPCI from JDSU Corporation where
he most recently led the operational integration of JDSU and
Lightwave Electronics Corporation, an OEM Manufacturer of
Diode Pumped Solid State Laser Products. In the 8 years prior,
Mr. Franey was Vice President of Operations and a Corporate
Officer at Lightwave, with marquee customers including US,
European, and Asian producers of laser-based material processing
tools for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. At
Lightwave, Tim had global operational responsibilities for
supply chain, IS/IT, quality, production, facilities and manufacturing
engineering management.
Prior to Lightwave, Tim directed all operations for 8 years
at CXR Corporation, an OEM telecommunications test equipment
and transmission products manufacturer with AT&T Labs,
Regional Bell Operating Companies, MCI, Sprint and large end
user customer base. Prior engineering and management roles
include GTE Government Systems, Atari International, Coherent
Medical, and Varian Medical & Instrument Divisions. Tim
holds both a BSEE and BSIE from the University of Washington
and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
