Avensys acquires ITF Optical

Montreal, Canada, based Avensys Inc., is to acquire assets of ITF Optical Technologies Inc. (ITF), Montreal, Québec based designer and manufacturer of advanced photonic solutions based on proprietary all-fibre technology.

Avensys Technologies, Avensys' manufacturing division, produces and distributes fibre Bragg grating and other optical components and instrumentation worldwide. It is also a pioneer in the development of packaged fibre-based sensors and possesses leading edge intellectual property (IP).

ITF provides high-end applications for submarine, military, telecom and industrial uses. The acquisition will provide Avensys’ fibre component production division with access to ITF’s 10,000 sq ft cleanroom.

ITF’s R&D unit, including all of its IP assets, will be merged with that of Avensys’ partner, Avensys Laboratories Inc. It will be renamed ITF Laboratories to promote development of ultra-reliable fibre optic systems, optical sensors and instrumentation, and fibre laser components.
